Welcome to the Facilitator Resources
Jane Kratz serves in Pastoral Care and Counselling at Kommetjie Christian Church in Cape Town, South Africa, and is a member of Biblical Counselling Africa.
Her work in grief care has grown out of both formal theological training and many years of walking alongside people through loss. Jane studied at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, in 2016 and 2017, where she also served in the care ministry at Sojourn Church Midtown.
She later gained further experience in biblical counselling at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Austin Stone Counseling Center in Austin, Texas. From 2019 to 2021 she served as the Women's and Care Ministries Coordinator at Hope Church in Johannesburg.
How the Course Developed
The Comfort of God in Grief grew out of Jane’s Master’s Thesis in Biblical Counseling at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. The course was first presented in 2018 and has continued to develop through years of teaching, facilitating grief groups and refining the material in response to real people and real experiences of bereavement.
Jane first participated in a grief group herself in 2013. She has been leading groups through this material since 2018. Her own experience of significant personal loss has also deeply shaped the compassion and care with which the course material has been developed.
